This course provides an overview of medical and traumatic emergencies as well as obstetrics and those who are considered special populations.

The medical emergencies portion will focus on the recognition, management and pathophysiology of neurological, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, renal, endocrinological, hematological, immunological, psychological, and toxicological conditions as well as infectious disease and public health. Cardiovascular and respiratory conditions will be revisited as well.

The traumatic emergencies portion will focus on the assessment, management, and pathophysiology of traumatic injuries as well as Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS). The portion focusing on obstetrics and special populations will focus on the assessment, management, and pathophysiology of conditions that effect pediatric and geriatric populations, care of those with obstetrical conditions, neonatal care, and those who face special challenges. It will also include Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
