Enables the beginning student to describe and use the knowledge and basic skills in firefighter orientation and safety, fire behavior, building construction, firefighting personal protective equipment, portable extinguishers, ropes and knots, rescue and extrication, forcible entry, ground ladders, ventilation, water supply, and fire hose. The course is offered in the traditional classroom setting with interactive discussion as well as in a lab setting to evaluate the ability to do practical activities.
